30.05.2021 Der am 7. August 1942 in Hugo (Oklahoma) geborene US-amerikanische Pop-, Country- und Gospel-Sänger Billy Joe "B.J." Thomas (Bild) ist am 29. Mai 2021 in Arlington (Texas) gestorben. In den 1960er- und 1970er-Jahren landete er regelmässig Chart-Erfolge in den USA. Zu einem Welthit wurde "Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head" von Burt Bacharach und Hal David. Anfang 1970 erreichte dieser Song Platz eins in den USA. Ein weiterer Nummer-eins-Erfolg in den USA gelang Thomas 1975 mit "(Hey Won’t You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song". Für seine späteren, christlichen Aufnahmen wurde er fünf Mal mit dem Grammy ausgezeichnet.*
