21.04.2021 Der am 1. November 1947 in New York City geborene US-amerikanische Rock- und Musical-Komponist, Texter und Musikproduzent Jim Steinman (Bild) ist am 19. April 2021 in Danbury (Connecticut) gestorben. Er schrieb unter anderem einen Grossteil der Songs für Meat Loaf sowie Bonnie Tylers "Total Eclipse of the Heart" und mehrere Musicals. Steinman komponierte die Musik zu "Tanz der Vampire" und schrieb den Text zu Andrew Lloyd Webbers "Whistle Down the Wind". Seine Songs wurden ausserdem etwa von Barbra Streisand, Céline Dion, Billy Squier und Barry Manilow gesungen. Er prägte den Wagnerian Rock, wie er seinen Musikstil in Anlehnung an Richard Wagner selbst nannte.*

Steinman was nominated for his first Grammy for his work with Tyler on the "Footloose" musical song "Holding Out for a Hero."
