April 1964 in Harlem (New York City) geborene US-amerikanische Rapper, DJ, Beatboxer und Schauspieler Biz Markie (bürgerlich Marcel Theo Hall, auch The Diabolical genannt) ist am 16. Juli 2021 in Baltimore (Maryland) gestorben. Biz Markie war einer der grossen Beatboxer und MCs der 1980er-Jahre und Mitglied der Juice Crew, bestehend aus Marley Marl, MC Shan, Big Daddy Kane, Biz Markie, Roxanne Shanté, Masta Ace und Craig G. Seine Karriere als Hip-Hop-Musiker startete er 1985 als Beatboxer. 1989 gelang ihm der kommerzielle Durchbruch als Rapper mit dem humoristischen Stück "Just a Friend", welches in den USA Platinstatus erreichte. Das dazugehörige Album "The Biz Never Sleeps" erreichte in den USA Goldstatus.*
